When I first came to Canada from Sri Lanka, I didn’t just encounter a new country—I found a new community. Growing up surrounded by friends from the Caribbean, I was introduced to the vibrant flavors, spices, and culture that define the region’s food. From spicy jerk chicken to the rich, comforting taste of curry goat, I was instantly hooked. My love for Caribbean cuisine grew even stronger as I traveled throughout the islands, tasting authentic street food, learning the stories behind the dishes, and understanding how much love and tradition goes into every meal.
Inspired by these experiences, I knew I wanted to share this passion with the world. Caribbean food isn’t just about eating—it’s about bringing people together, about celebration, warmth, and history. That’s why I opened Scotchiees.
